Sandra Skrocki

sandra skrocki
Sandra Jean Skrocki, or "Sandy" as she liked to be called, was born on August 1st, 1948 to James L. Pope and Helen A. Pope in Chicago, IL. On March 25th, 2022, she peacefully went to join her son, Dan, her husband, Rich, her brother, Jim Pope, and his wife, Karen Pope, who was one of her dearest friends, and her parents in Heaven. She passed while at the hospital in Seguin, TX with her daughter at her bedside. While Sandy suffered from multiple heath issues, she ultimately succumbed to her severely advanced lung disease. Sandy was sibling to James W. Pope who proceeded her in death last year, and her younger brother, Richard S. Pope, with whom she was estranged. Through her 18yr marriage to Carl L. Johnson, they had two children together, a son, Daniel L. Johnson who tragically preceded them in death at age 19 and a daughter, Laura A. Alvarez nee Johnson. She later was happily remarried to Richard Allen Skrocki in August 1989 in Port Charlotte, Florida until his untimely death in 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Alvarez, who is married to René Alvarez, and her three grandson's, Evan E. Samaniego, Chase E. Samaniego and Cody V. Alvarez. She is also survived by two nephews with whom she was close, Kevin S. Pope and Jimmy M. Pope. She loved and was beloved by many to include, her life-long best friend, Joanne Mazeika; Terry Rutherford and her whole family, and Debbye Fitzpatrick, who despite being Sandy's junior, gave her the motherly love she always needed. Sandy was absolutely adored by her grandchildren whom she had a significant role in raising and help shape their character since their birth. She moved from Southwest Florida to San Antonio, TX in Fall of 2009 expressly to be there for the boys and Laura. Sandy wore many hats over the years...secretary, legal secretary, administrative assistant, daughter, wife, mother, caregiver, widow and grandmother. She endured much throughout her life and shouldered it all. Sandy could do anything that she put her mind to and most often did. She will be sorely missed. There will be no viewing, as per her wishes, and a private mass involving the immediate family. She will be cremated and interred at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Seguin along with the ashes of her late husband, Rich, and those of her son, Dan. In lieu of flowers, hug someone that you love.
