Tommy Dubuque, born March 3, 1949 in Austin, TX, passed away peacefully in New Braunfels, TX on February 3, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Tommy was a proud US Navy veteran and served two tours in Vietnam from 1967-1971. He was the humble recipient of the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Tommy married his beautiful bride, Peggy Lewis, on March 4, 1980. Peggy was his inspiration for sobriety. He was proud of his sobriety of over 40 years.
Tommy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2005, which prompted his tireless work building a vast and powerful community of support for people living with Parkinson’s and their families. He founded the Comal County Parkinson’s Support Group in 2007 and the non-profit organization Lone Star Parkinson Society in 2013. He was integral in bringing Rock Steady Boxing to the local Parkinson’s community, for the mobility and health of those living with the disease. His reach and mentorship crossed borders, and he is remembered by Parkinson’s friends internationally.
Tommy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping and spending time in nature with his family and friends. He was a born and raised loyal Texan. He had an unrivaled zest for life and believed strongly in taking life “one day at a time.” But more than anything, Tommy’s family was most important to him, and nothing compared to his unbridled love for his wife Peggy of 42 years.
Survived by the love of his life, Peggy, and his six children, Jennifer (Robert), Michael (Amanda), Tommi (Matt), Daniel (Kristen), Wil (Marilyn), and Carrie (Ricky), as well as his grandchildren, Charlie, Maxwell, Caitlyn, Danny, and Nevaeh. Also survived by his sisters Barbara and Dana, and his brother Johnny. Preceded in death by his son, Thomas Edward, and his parents, Elmer and Martha Kate.
His wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life is planned for March 3rd, Tommy’s 73rd birthday. The Celebration of Life will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. Please bring your stories and memories of Tommy’s life to share.

Tommy was an inspiration to me with his big loving heart for people. One of a kind. I pray God’s comfort for his family and to cling to the knowledge they will see him again. No more pain, no more sickness. He is in the arms of Jesus. Rest now Tommy. Well done, good and faithful servant of the Lord.

The Dubuque Family, I’m very sorry to hear about Tommy’s passing. Tommy was a great person and friend who I will always remember. He was also a Christian and lived his life accordingly. I met Tommy when he was working for McCoy’s many years ago and our friendship grew from there. I have fond memories of several bird hunting trips we went on together. I will always remember him as the solid person he was and for his love for his family he spoke of during almost every conversation we had. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Peggy and all the rest of the family. His loss will be felt by so many people who’s life he had touched and affected positively. He was an inspiration to all. I was a member of the Comal County Parkinson’s Support Group and attended many their events. I’ve had PD since 2004 and am still going, thanks to his inspiration.
Our most heartfelt sympathy to Peggy and all of Tommy’s family. Tommy was such an inspriation to many people but especially to the members of the Parkinson Support Group. He was always smiling and greeting us all at the Support Meetings. My husband has had Parkinson since 2014 and he enjoyed the speakers Tommy brought to the meetings. He was one of a kind, great Christian man, loving and caring of his fellow man. He will be greatly missed, but he left many memories and we pray that these memories will carry the family during the difficult days ahead. Tommy, fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the Faith. May you rest in eternal peace.

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. I just today found the news of Tommy’s passing. I was preparing our annual Christmas cards and thought I’d search his name – He truly was one of a kind! Tommy had such a passion for life, profound love of his family and dedication to every endeavor he attempted. He was an inspiration to many of us in the Hardware Industry.
