Tilli Elizabeth Barbosa Gold departed this life at the age of 84 on August 30, 2018, surrounded by her loving family and many prayers. Tilli, was born to Charles and Otilia Barbosa on November 3, 1933 in Dallas, Texas, their fifth and youngest child. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1952 and attended Loretta Heights College. For 13 years in Dallas she taught at Notre Dame School (for children with intellectual disabilities.) On her 15th birthday she went on a date with Richard Gold, who became her husband of 65 years and the love of her life. She and Richard raised one son and three daughters. In 1978 Tilli and Dick's lives were turned upside down with their daughter, Lisa's , near fatal car accident. Tilli was devoted to the care and quality of life for Lisa. She exemplified being a good and faithful servant of the Lord. In 1989, she and her family moved to New Braunfels and became members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she remained an active member until her death. Tilli was incredibly devoted to the church. She was very active in bible study and as a member of the ACTS community. Tilli designed and made the ACTS crosses given out to every person attending ACTS retreats across the country. Tilli was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Along with being a loving wife and mother, a devoted Catholic, and a talented artist, she was an avid tennis player, a hunter, a traveler, a poodle lover and an enthusiastic broom skirt wearer. Tilli is survived by her husband Richard Gold, her son Rico Gold and his wife Kathy; her daughters Lisa Brown, Peggy Burke and husband Bob, Patti Lynch and husband Patrick. She also leaves nine grandchildren (who lovingly called her “Mutti”), Anthony, Katie, Tilli, Michael, Rachel, Emily, Shannon, Ryan, and Quinn; and five great grandchildren. 1. I can best describe Tilli as an artist, an empesario in the art li living well. A woman of faith, devotion, family and service who knew how to have fun. God doesn’t make many treasures like Tilli Gold and I will always count it as a great blessing that I got to share the journey with Tilli for almost 30 years. May she Rest In Peace near the thrones of her Lord Jesus Christ and Hi Blessed Mother whom she lived so much. Bishop Joseph E Strickland

  3. Aunti Tilli for many years opened her family’s home to everyone for the Christmas Eve Tamale Tradition. We would come over to make them a few weeks before, then crowd into the house after midnight mass to inhale the tamales! I wish my girls could have enjoyed these get-togethers!
I will always treasure this memory! Cammy Barbosa

  4. Who knew that a short time after you moved to New Braunfels a small town hairdresser would become a life long friend. Twenty nine years later, you were and always will be a big part of my life. Your friendship, advice, guidance and love is something I will never forget. Thank you Tilli for being you and choosing me. We chose each other. My heart breaks and is joyful at the same time. I know your faithful heart and you are happy. Rest in peace. As we always left each other. I love you. Melissa Aguirre
