Virginia “Annie” James, 74, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family on January 15th, 2023 after developing a lung infection. Annie was preceded in death by her mother and father James and Helene Ellis, her siblings Jon “Sonny” Ellis, Ruth “Tuttie” Meadows, and Ruby Mills and her sister-in-law Peggy Schneider. She is survived by her husband Joe Bob James, son Rick James, daughter and son-in-law and Pam and Kelly Holmes, sibling, Billy Ellis and his wife Denise Ellis, sister-in-laws Brenda Ellis and Linda Hutchinson, brother-in-law Randy Sutton, three grandchildren and their spouses Tyler and Jessica Holmes, Madi and Chase Nunez, and Maci Holmes, and a great granddaughter Eleanor James Nunez. Annie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was born in a small house on Grant St. here in New Braunfels where she lived most of her life. She fell in love with her best friend at only 14 years old and they enjoyed 60 years together building a wonderful life and family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones in the outdoors camping and hunting around Texas and out-fishing her family in the coastal bays. She was an artist who loved to paint and enjoyed growing plants & flowers and crafts of all kinds. She retired from Detex Corporation in 2013 and enjoyed a retirement spending time with her family and hobbies. She also loved attending her small group at Oakwood Baptist where she had fellowship with many friends and volunteered for many community events. While Annie will be missed by many, we rejoice that she is fully healed with her savior and reunited with many loved ones who went before her. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Annie to the St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital.
