William Donald Bragg

william bragg
Dedicated husband and father William Donald Bragg, age 55, from New Braunfels, TX, went to his eternal home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. William was born on March 8, 1967 in Oceanside, California and was the youngest of three siblings. William is now reunited with his mother, Donna Hawkins, sister, Kimberley Ward, best friend, Robert Hoeffs, and his grandparents William and Gertrude Fell. When William was asked about his obituary he said it needs to say one thing: “Veni, vidi, vici-I came, I saw, I conquered with the Lord at my side.” We thought we’d take things a little further than that- He is survived by his loving family, including the love of his life and wife Jennifer Bragg, daughter Abigail Bragg, and son Landon Bragg. Extended family members include, brother in law Lee Ward, nephew Daniel Ward, niece Lindsey Ward Purchase and her husband Steven and great nephew and namesake William Purchase. Sister MaDonna Wilson, niece Arrie Wilson-Woodrow, and great niece Katie Wilson-Woodrow. Parents in law Doyle and Marilynn Davis, brother and sister in law Duane and Charlotte Davis, niece Natalie Davis Mask and husband Collin Mask, niece Macie Davis and Aunt and Uncle in law Debra and David Anderson William, a California native, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He began his career in the enlisted force, serving in the Wilford Hall medical facility pharmacy. As an officer, he was a decorated missileer and helped lead/train elite groups of his Air Force brethren. He served all over the country as well as overseas in Cuba during Operation Sea Sign and in Turkey assisting NATO. He retired honorably and with distinction, after 24+ years of service. William devoted his life to serving Jennifer, Abigail, and Landon as a husband and father. He loved Jesus and led his family and friends by his example in prayer, conduct, and volunteerism. His light shone just as easily while singing Bible songs with a group of children as it did leading an in-depth discussion with adults on Biblical truths. Throughout his many relocations, his impact on deepening his friend’s and family’s understanding of Christ was profoundly felt and will be deeply missed. William was a notorious early-bird, often accomplishing by noon what took others a full day. During these early hours, he authored two books on his favorite topic and vacation destination-Disney World. His first work was titled, The Walt Disney World Challenge, and was followed by Dynamic Walt Disney World Diversions. He delegated all the proceeds of both books to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. A celebration of life will be held on October 1st, at 11am at First Baptist New Braunfels Church, 733 W Cross St, New Braunfels, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Options for Life of New Braunfels, or the general fund of First Baptist New Braunfels.

  3. Lt Col Bragg was an amazing commander and gifted teacher. We remember him for his outstanding service and steadfast dedication to duty.

  4. A tribute of trees that reminds me of the Sunrise painting by T. Kinkade, may they grow tall-strong-beautiful and always remind us to point to God…

  5. Sending our love to your family as you celebrate the life of beloved William. W &R, truly best friends forever.

  6. William and I go back to Oceanside High School days, back in the 1980’s. He was the tennis stud together with John Cress and Greg Sipple. The 4 of us started friendships that have lasted almost 40 years.

During the flights to San Antonio last night, I was thinking of words that describe William. Honorable. Duty. Family man. Faith. But one word stood out = Service.

Service to his country with 24+ years in the US Air Force.

Service to his family, the loves of his life Jennifer, Abigail and Landon. Also to extended family and friends. For instance, take his hospitality. No matter where we were scattered, he always made the effort to meet and reconnect. Whether in:

    Vandenburg AFB in CA
    Hometown of Oceanside. CA
    Rolla, MO
VIrginia, where I lived the past 9 years
And of course here in New Braunfels, TX

He sure made some lasting memories in these places with many of us in this room.

Lastly, service to his church and community.

Through his service, he truly loved God and loved others.

William, thank you for blessing us and “Living a life well lived”.

An example for all of us to carry the rest of our days until we meet again in God’s Kingdom…
