Susannah Maxey Smith

Susannah “Susie” Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 80 the afternoon of April 15, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas with the love of her family surrounding her.

Susie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lynda (Tom), Tracy (Ken), Will (Christina); grandchildren, Jayna (JD), Patrick, Dylan, Courtney, Cody, Abby, Jack, Max; great-grandchild, Jax; siblings, Margaret (Larry), Bud; and numerous other family and friends.

Susie was predeceased by her parents, Merle and Inez; and brother Gordon.

Susannah Maxcy Smith was born June 25, 1944 to Merle and Inez Smith in McAllen, Texas. Susie grew up in the city of Pharr, Texas where she was very active in various youth activities including 4-H and the Methodist Church. Susie also served as a varsity cheerleader for the 1959-1961 PSJA Bears. Later in life, Susie moved to central Texas (New Braunfels) to be closer to family. Susie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great­ grandmother. Being around the “kids” was her greatest passion.

A Celebration of Susie’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00am, at Lux Funeral Home, 1254 N Business IH 35, New Braunfels, Texas.
