Alexander Campbell Wood, III, age 71, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. Alexander was born on March 31, 1951 in Livingston, Texas to Alexander Campbell Wood II and Gloria Marie Shoemake.
Alex was a devoted man. His children were his life and he loved being a Granddad. Alex gave 41 years of service to ExxonMobil Research and Development Co. In his early years, Alex enjoyed woodwork and camping. Upon retirement, floating the Comal River was a favorite past time
Alexander was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his children, Jacqueline Nicole Wood and Jeremy Latt Copley-Wood (Audrey Cooper); grandchildren, George Andrew Thayer Wallace, Elizabeth Alexandra Walsh, Jeremy Latt Copley- Wood, Jr., Nina Victoria Walsh, Declan Cooper, Dylan Cooper, and Conner Campbell Copley-Wood; siblings, L. Kathleen Wood (Jerry Pittman) and Camille R. Wood; niece, Taylor R. Wood and extended family.
Services will be held at Tree of Life Church located at 5513 IH-35 South, New Braunfels, Texas 78132 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM.

Alison and I wanted to send our deepest condolences at the loss of Alex. While we did not get to spend a lot of time with Alex during the time we did spend he was always a pleasure to be with. I know he was a caring and thoughtful brother and father. A true gentlemen.
Alison and I loved the idea of dedicating trees in remembrance of Alex. We have decided to plant two new apple trees out front to be dedicated to Alex. Each spring when they bloom and each fall when they change color we will think of Alex and the happiness he brought to all those he loved.

âThe minute I moved next door to Alex he invited me over for a drink on his bench and told me straight out âyou know, you paid too damn much for that house!âÂ
âŠ..Well , I appreciated his straightforwardness even when it stung a bit; I think its because he always did a little laugh after he said something like that , and I figured out quick it was just his thing!
He wanted to say what was on his mind even if he knew it wouldnât be to my liking or I might not agree with him, âŠ.but heâd give a little laugh to try and lighten it up after & I liked that about him!
Throughout the years we enjoyed more drinks on the bench, my front porch & I got lots of knocks on my door -& there was Alex with his colorful swim trunks on, inner tube over his shoulder & a gin and tonic in a big jug asking me to take him up River! Ha, No phone call first cause he knew I couldnât say no to him standing there in his swim trunks , his inner tube and his jug!Â
  I saw his family come into town often, his daughter move across the street and grandkids galore up and down the driveway many a weekend!Â
âŠ.. now for a man that keeps his house so tidy and everything in its place he always had a smile embracing all the chaos and kids running about and you just knew how much Alex was loved and appreciated by all of his family! âŠ.And how much he loved them too.Â
  Yes, Alex was a great neighbor , a friend and iâll miss him âgiving it to me straightâ âŠ.and his little laugh afterwards too!â
