Amy Beth Watts, 56, of New Braunfels, passed away on August 7, 2026. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 22, 1970. Amy was a fireball as a child, into everything and enjoying life in Scandia, Minnesota. At the age of 7, she and her family moved to San Antonio, Texas and settled in the El Dorado neighborhood Northeast of the city.
Swimming became a passion for her and a way to channel her boundless energy. She made many friends and acquaintances along the way. She graduated from James Madison High School. She started her working life in the insurance industry. She went on to attend UT in Austin, Texas. Following a move to Alaska, she worked for the Kenai Borough Council in Soldotna, Alaska. She obtained a master’s degree in business from the University of Alaska in Anchorage, graduating with Honors. Amy became the Insurance Commissioner for the State of Alaska, a position that ended during the economic downturn in the state.
Following the end of her marriage, Amy and her beloved dog, Carhartt, drove themselves from Alaska to her parents’ home in Arizona. Arizona was not for her so once again the fearless duo drove to her beloved Texas. She moved in with her lifelong friend, Sharon Daivs, and eventually met and fell in love with Chris Watts. They married on 2-22-2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Settling in New Braunfels, Texas, she persuaded her parents to re-locate there and they purchased homes side-by-side.
At the time of her passing she was employed by the USPS working at the Lockhart, Texas Post Office.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Watts; stepson, Cameron Watts; mother-in-law, Linda Watts; Chris’s sister, Andrea Watts; her beloved brother, Andy Oster, his wife Kristi Oster; niece, Taylor Sears and her husband Connor Sears; her parents, Terry and Beth Avery; stepsisters, Rachel and Darcy, and Ceirwen Avery and Christopher Avery who live in Wales. Also Ian Avery and wife Chirstine and their son Evan Avery of Universal City, Texas; her aunt and uncle Mike and Sue Gibbs and numerous friends and acquaintances as well as many cousins who live in Minnesota.
She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Gonna miss you!
You had such a full, adventurous life. So many people who loved you. I’m so glad you were able to spend your final years back in Texas, next door to your parents.
Our time together was too short. I’m forever grateful that we had the time we did, although I will forever mourn the years we didn’t get.
Every time I see a dragonfly, I’ll remember you’re always with me.
Forever your sister, Darcy
We never had the chance to meet face to face but we were friends by
We never had the chance to meet face to face but we were friends by phone and Amy’s parents. Her parents were our neighbors in AZ. We became good friends. The kind of friends that you remember even when distance separates your daily visits to phone calls. Amy, you will always be my friend and I will talk to you in person. I send heartfelt condolences to her husband and her parents. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May God wrap his arms around you and see you through this difficult time.
