Arthur Fred Rust

Arthur Fred "Spitz" Rust passed away peacefully April 28th at home in Spring Branch, Texas. Spitz was 9th child of 11 born to Gustav T. Rust and Martha Ann Simon on February 2nd, 1928. He married Dorothy Ann Kohlenberg at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels, Texas on June 13th, 1953. Spitz loved his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren would always bring a twinkle to his eyes and a big grin on his face. He was a jack of all trades and worked at farming, ranching, carpentry, and a masonry contractor. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
Spitz was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Max and Ada Kohlenberg; brothers, Waldie, Johnnie, and Raymond Rust; sisters Elvira Rose, Velma Jonas, and Mary Wegner; Infant daughter, Jacqueline Joyce Rust; grandson, Jason Ryan Ewald and great grandson, Cole Ryan Ewald; brothers-in-law, Armin Kappelmann, Martin Kralik, Herbert Stollewerk, Oscar Jonas, Kermit Wegner, Milton Wegner, Fred Rose, Gus Kruckemeyer; and sisters-in-law, Etelka Rust, Dorene Rust, and Margaret Rust.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; daughters, Janelle Murphy and husband Michael, and Connie Osborn and husband Douglas, grandchildren, Darryn Ewald and wife Jill, Heath Osborn and wife Heather, Elizabeth Jurgensen and husband Dustin, Jaclyn Jonas and husband JR; granddaughter-in-law, Vickie Ewald; great grandchildren, Trent and Tira Chalk, Nickolas Ewald, Mackenzie, Amanda, and Savanna Osborn, Hannah Jurgensen, and Luke Jonas; brothers, Clarence Rust and wife Betty, Gus E. Rust and wife Betty Lou; sisters, Valeska Kruckemeyer and Viola Stollewerk; brother-in-law Gene Kohlenberg and wife Verna; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bulverde on May 17th at 10 AM with Pastors Lee Harder & Don Ofsdahl officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, The American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
I am sorry to hear of Spitz’s passing. I have known him forever. God bless him and the entire family during this time.
