Arturo Andres Aburto, 81, passed away on December 3, 2023 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Managua, Nicaragua to Maria del Socorro Quesada and Jose Felix Aburto.

He was the 4th child out of 12 children. Married 51 years to Rosa Argentina Aburto and had 2 children. In 1972 he was co-founder with USGS of the Seismic Institute in Managua, Nicaragua. Went to school and graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1976. In 1981 he was awarded a full scholarship to Stanford University and graduated with a Masters of Science. In 1985 he started working for the University of Reno, Nevada and retired after 22 years.

He loved to spend time with his family. Loved and admired by everyone.

Arturo is survived by his wife Rosa Argentina Aburto, his daughter Rosemary Ortiz, son Arturo Aburto Jr. and their spouses. Four grandchildren Jordan Ortiz, Joshua Ortiz, Justin Aburto and Joanna Aburto; four brothers and five sisters.

Arturo is predeceased by father Jose Felix Aburto, mother Maria del Socorro Quesada and 2 younger sisters.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Lux Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas.

  1. Tío Arturo siempre irradiaba paz yo lo recuerdo sonriendo cuando llegaba a visitar a Mamaela (mi abuela) yo se que partio a su patria celestial pero por su familia inmediata yo oro que Dios les de consuelo con su Santo Espíritu por la pérdida de su esposo, padre y hermano respectivamente🙏🏻

  2. Nuestras oraciones para la familia de Tío Arturo, su esposa, hijos, nietos y hermanos. Que el Señor les consuele por la separación terrenal pero sabemos que pronto le veremos. Siempre recordamos con mucho cariño a toda la familia Aburto.
