Barbara Jean "BJ" Thomas left the earth for her Heavenly home on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the age of 77. BJ was born Barbara Jean Powell October 2, 1937 in Waverly, Illinois. In 1960 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, James Loren "Jim" Thomas who went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2005. BJ was an entrepreneur and natural born leader starting several different businesses over the years. She ultimately found her professional passion as a Texas REALTOR for which she was well known in Comal County. She believed in giving back to the community and industry she loved by serving and held leadership roles in many civic and professional organizations. BJ is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeani Thomas Codrey and Gerald D. Codrey; grandson, Jordan Clay Richie; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lee Luken and Jan Luken; sister-in-law, Donna Thomas McMahon, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care and caregivers Ashley, Sandra and Wendy who lovingly cared for her to the end. Visitation will be held at Lux Funeral Home, 1254 Business 35 N, New Braunfels Monday, November 17 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of BJ's life will be held at the same location on Tuesday, November 18 at 11:00 am with a graveside service to follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Resource and Recreation Center of Canyon Lake at 1917 FM 2673, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133 or the CLASS (Canyon Lake Animal Shelter Society at 2170 Old Sattler Road, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133.
