Bonnie Lee Oglethorpe Telge, 83 of New Braunfels, TX passed away on December 11, 2024.

Bonnie was born on August 27, 1941, to Murff and Edith Oglethorpe, in Houston, Texas. Bonnie grew up in Texas City, Texas, and graduated from Texas City High School in 1959. Bonnie went on to graduate from Sam Houston State Teacher’s College (now Sam Houston State University) with a double-major degree in English and Music (vocal major).

In 1964, Bonnie married Timothy Telge in Texas City, Texas. Bonnie has one son, Mark Edward Telge, and one daughter, Elizabeth Marie (Telge) Shaw.

Bonnie went on to be an Elementary school teacher until the birth of her son Mark. Several years later, Bonnie returned to teaching including Junior High and High school students at Faith Christian Academy in Pasadena, Texas, as well as homeschooling for Elizabeth.

Throughout her entire life, Bonnie was an active member of her church including roles as choir member (soprano), volunteer church administrative staff, home group leader, bible study leader, hospitality coordinator, and other roles. The Houston, Texas area churches she was active in over the decades include: St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Church of the Redeemer Episcopal Church, New Wine Christian Fellowship, Houston Vineyard Church, Palmer Episcopal Church, and Pearland Vineyard Church.

Bonnie was predeceased in death by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents and sister-in-law Jennifer (Telge) Janak. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Timothy, her children Mark (Julie) Telge and Elizabeth (Timothy) Shaw, her grandchildren Titus Telge, Chester Telge, Josiah (Olivia) Telge, David Shaw, and Addilynne Shaw, brother-in-law Artie Janak, her nephew Randall Janak, and her niece Linze (Michael) Pattison and their children. She is also survived by her vast extended family and friends she has gathered throughout her amazing life.

Bonnie will be interred at the Telge family cemetery in Cypress, Texas. Per her wishes, there will be a celebration party in the New Year 2025 in the Houston metro area, the date and location are yet to be determined.

  1. Loved her sooo much! I will always remember the fun we had whether it was just a phone call are shopping spree! She was always quick to remind me that God is in control & always has a plan ! I will miss her very much! Her smile & laughter always lifted my ❤️

    Their kids grew up next block over.

    The Telges were joyful, quiet people. They love the Lord God very much.

    I am blessed that they are reunited together with God in heaven. Praise God, hallelujah
