Carlos Mercado Perez was called home by the Lord, after an earthly pilgrimage of 91 years,  Saturday, noon, September 23, 2023. He died peacefully at Kirkwood Manor Nursing home, surrounded by loving family members. Carlos has been a resident of New Braunfels for almost 3 years.  

He was born on June 9, 1932 in Pampanga, Philippines to Saturnino and Ana Perez.

Carlos was a hardworking and dedicated family man. When he was still in the Philippines, he did any kind of skilled work just to provide for his family. His Brother-in-law had helped him land a job in Guam in l972. He managed a Snack Bar. Then he worked as a Sheet Metal Worker and an Air Conditioning Technician for a construction company.  After a few years, he was able to bring his family to Guam. He lived there for almost 35 years. In 2010, he moved in with a daughter in Hawaii. He lived there for 10 years. In 2020, he finally moved in with another daughter in New Braunfels.

Carlos was a fun-loving person, caring, thoughtful, and very sociable. He had many friends. He easily made friends with both old and young, wherever he lived. 

He was very passionate about his favorite sport, Golf. He was 85 years old when he stopped playing golf – due to a hip problem. He also loved to sing and also played musical instruments. He loved to cook, garden, and enjoyed drinking beer and red wine.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by many.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, youngest son, his 2 brothers, and his 5 sisters. 

Survivors include: his son, Rolando (Engracia), daughters, Lerma (Jesse, deceased), Liberty (Jaime), Daisy (Demosthenes).  Carlos is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Wilan (Grace), Jesse, Rex (Jamie), Andrew, Joel, Ryan, Julieanne (Sanneal), Rabin (Vicente), Angelie, and Archie. He is survived by 7 precious great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:00am-10:00am on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church. The Mass will begin at 10:00am.
