In Loving Memory of Carol Ann Bartlett Ohala

Carol Ann Bartlett Ohala, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in San Marcos, Texas, at the age of 66. She was born on April 17, 1960, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Maynard Bartlett and Rita Bartlett.

Carol spent most of her life in Bristol, Connecticut, where she built a life centered around family, compassion, service, and love. She was a woman whose kindness touched the lives of so many people. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering love for others were among the many qualities that made her so deeply cherished.

Throughout her life, Carol dedicated herself to helping others. She worked in the nonprofit community, including with the American Red Cross, where she worked and volunteered, and she also devoted herself to teaching and caring for children with special needs. She brought patience, compassion, and genuine love to every person and every role she encountered.

Carol was also a longtime docent volunteer at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, where her love of art and learning allowed her to share her passion with others. As a docent, she found joy in connecting people with art, history, and the beauty of the museum’s collections. Her service there was a meaningful expression of her creativity, generosity, and love of her community.

Throughout her life, Carol faced significant health challenges with remarkable courage and perseverance. She lived with lupus for a many years and was a cancer survivor. For the last nine years of her life, she faced the challenges of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Through each chapter, Carol demonstrated tremendous strength and resilience. Even as illness changed parts of her life, it never diminished the love she had for her family or the kindness she showed to others. Her courage in the face of these challenges will remain an enduring part of her story.

Carol was deeply artistic and creative, finding beauty in the world and sharing that creativity with the people she loved. But above all else, Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was at the center of her life, and the love she gave them will continue through the generations.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas J. Ohala; her children, Phoebe L. Ohala, Cameron P. Ohala and his wife Carli, Ian T. Ohala and his fiancée Whitney; her grandchildren, Cameron Jr., Capri, Violet and soon to be born Declan; her mother, Rita Bartlett; her brother, Gary Bartlett; and her extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved father, Maynard Bartlett.

Carol’s life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, faith, and perseverance. She gave freely of herself to others and never stopped caring for the people around her. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain forever.

We take comfort in knowing that Carol is now at peace and resting in the loving presence of God. Her faith and the love she shared with her family will be a lasting part of her legacy.
