Carol Lee Griffin, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 20, 2024, at Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels at the age of 80. Carol was born on October 25, 1943, in Victoria, TX to the late Dennis Temple and Virginia Kelley Temple. She spent her youth in Pasadena, TX. Despite her love of Texas, she attended the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a master’s degree in Deaf Education. As a teacher, she loved inspiring students to reach their full potential. Throughout her career, she taught elementary school students, worked with deaf children, and later provided education to homebound students who were too ill to attend school. She was a lifelong OU Sooners football fan and would never miss a game. Carol was always up for any adventure, and never met a stranger during her travels. After retiring from teaching, she moved to Las Vegas, a town she loved, to work for fun at a casino, and made many new friends. When she returned to Texas, she continued her calling for helping others by working with elderly residents at a local assisted living facility. After fully retiring, she enjoyed her house, surrounded by nature and animals, where she loved watching British mysteries. She was a strong, kind and independent woman who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Virginia Temple; step-mother Mary Temple; and great-nephew Ethan Eiler. Survivors include her son, Scott Griffin; sisters Kathy Eiler and Judy Becker; nephews Jeff and Keith Eiler and Jason Becker; niece Ginny Slaton; great-nephew Samuel Eiler; and great-nieces Morgan Eiler, Aubrey and Chloe Slaton.
A memorial service for family, friends, and loved ones will be held to honor her memory at a later date that will be shared by her family.
In lieu of flowers, you can donate in her name to the following charities: Texas School for the Deaf, and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
To our Dear friend and neighbor.
We will miss seeing you walk the neighborhood and taking your beloved Corvette for a spin!
I will reflect on our time together with laughter. Your optimistic outlook and positive attitude towards life was contagious.
I watched you meet recent challenges with great strength and dignity.
Your heart for teaching children and helping the elderly is something our world needs more of.
Rest my friend until we meet again! PS, we will feed the cats 🙂
Much love; Marlin and Michelle Puckett
