Catherine Elaine (“Cat”) Moss, of New Braunfels, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.

Catherine was born on August 8, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas. As a teenager, she began working as a cosmetologist, where she formed lifelong friendships with many of her clients and found great joy in helping others feel cared for and confident. Later in life, Catherine discovered her true calling in the medical field. She spent the last several years working as a medical-surgical certified nursing assistant at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital- New Braunfels, where she cared deeply for her patients and built meaningful bonds with her coworkers, who became like a second family to her. Catherine always went the extra mile for her patients and colleagues, and her compassion for others inspired those who worked alongside her.

Catherine’s laughter was unforgettable, one of a kind, and could brighten any room. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and was always the first to show up for family and friends, often putting the needs of others before her own. The walls of her home were filled with photographs of the people she cherished most. Catherine had a rare gift for connecting with others on a personal level, and her kind heart and gentle spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She also shared a special bond with her adored little dog, Romi, affectionately known as “Romi, my homie.”

In her free time, Catherine enjoyed crafting, painting, drawing, cooking, and traveling. Her faith remained a constant source of comfort and strength throughout her life, especially during her illness and in the final months following her diagnosis.

Catherine is survived by her children, Richard Christopher Paul Chevalier and his wife Andrea, James Ian Moss, Zachary Dillon Moss, Justin Moss and his wife Rachael, and Kellie Moss; and her cherished grandchildren, Elliana “Ellie” Chevalier, Izabell “Izzy” Moss, James Ian “June” Moss, Jr., Johnpaul “JP” Gutierrez, Meadow Moss, Landon Cross, Lanie Cook, and Lilybeth Cook. She is also survived by Melissa Gutierrez, whom she loved like a daughter; her aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and her cherished work family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Scott Moss; her parents, Nora Lynn “Mimi” McKethan and Richard McKethan; her grandparents, Arthur Kent Black

and Ada Ruth Black; and her dear cousin, Sabrina Vasquez. Catherine will be remembered for her compassion, her warmth, her strength, and the deep love she gave so freely to others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
