Darlene Anne Palenik, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in San Antonio at the age of 59. Darlene was born on January 4, 1954 in Toms River, NJ to Louis Palenik and Elizabeth Petras Palenik. Darlene was a writer for most of her professional career. Survivors include her loving parents, Louis and Elizabeth Palenik and additional family members.

Aunt Betty & Uncle Lou: We are very sorry to hear about Darlene; & while we can’t be with you in person, we’ll be there in spirit. Darlene was a special, gifted person. I’ll miss her very much.
Dear Darlene, So many years had passed since our fun times at Space:1999 conventions in Columbus, Ohio & Pittsburgh, PA and in Manhattan at FAO Schwartz eating ice cream cones. Starlog magazine & David Hirsch. I remember you were writing a book way back in 1980ish. We ran into each other at a Trade Show in California in 2009ish and Darlene looked at me and my name tag but did not acknowledge. I said hello and she smiles so sweetly and went on her way. So many years had passed. I realized it was Darlene and yelled her name to no avail. I learned the other day of dear Darlene’s unfortunate passing. So young. My condolences to your parents. If this is the correct Darlene Palenik please someone tell me. Darlene so sweet and kind, her front tooth a little crook’d. I grieve and always missed you.
