My most sincere condolences for the death of your father; I worked with Darrell at TXST on a number of projects, and he always conducted himself very professionally and was very accommodating to the needs of others. He will always be considered as one of the very nice individuals I have had the privilege to work with. I am truly sorry for his early “departure”.

  6. Darrell was truly one of the good guys. He was kind, helpful, funny, and just a great soul. I will miss him, his smile, his eyes. To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is never to die.

  7. Darrell, such an enlightening soul that we will miss. He made us laugh and picked on us, and we still loved him with all our hearts. Just as he was in our wedding, he will always be the BEST MAN and our best friend. Love you forever!

  8. i am truly heart-broken to hear that Darrell has been taken so suddenly from all those who loved him. I’ve always remembered the little blonde boy who wandered away from our house, and tried to climb a mountain by himself. When my dad came up the driveway carrying Darrell, he was so tired he was already asleep just dangling limp in his arms. He had holes in his little tennis shoes, he had walked so far. As a man, Darrell always seemed so gentle and calm. This is a trait I always admired in our grandma Elkins, aunt Mary and Darrell. I know everyone who knew him will miss him so much. The hurt never goes away, but we can pray that time soothes your hearts as quickly as it can. I am so sorry for you loss.

  9. Uncle Darrell was a good-hearted; thoughtful and caring man, that was taken away from us too soon. He was my favorite Uncle. I never got the chance to say goodbye or even catch up on things in the last few years since being Stationed in Arizona. …I learned a lot from him since I was a young age from fixing cars, to simple things like fishing. He will truly be missed by all that loved him. May you ‘Rest in Peace,’ Uncle Darrell. We love and miss you dearly.

  13. My heart broke when I read about Darrell’s passing. I still can’t believe it. I always called him “my other brother Darrell”. Just seeing him in the building or wherever I would run into him at made me automatically start smiling when I saw him coming. Bless his sweet soul. You couldn’t ask for a better person to be around. I will think of you often, especially when you and a co-worker came up to our group of other TxState employees and sang Happy Birthday to Peggy. It was so sweet! He made our evening!

Darrell always had a helping hand and a smile to all.My Grandmother once told me our lives are like a stone thrown into a lake, that the ripples effect everyone around you, that no one is untouched by you.
