David Mata Rodriguez

David Mata Rodriguez, age 79, with loving family close by, passed from this world on Monday, January 15, 2024. David was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on March 13, 1944 to Aniceto and Maria Inez Rodriguez.

He played high school football for the New Braunfels Unicorns. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving from 1962 till 1966, he served in Vietnam and later in the Reserves from ’66 to ’68. David was a hard worker who loved his family, he also loved to help other Veterans, including assisting them with tedious paper work to acquire their benefits.

David is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Maria H. Rodriguez; daughter, Maria De La Luz Cantu and fiancé Jerry Torres; Daughter Dolores and husband Joshua Perez; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Brother Rogelio Rodriguez, and sisters, Maria Guerrero, Oralia and husband Joe Perez. David is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Herlinda Machuca; and brother-in-law, Arturo Guerrero.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 5PM to 9PM. (6PM sharing the Word and memories of David and A Holy Rosary recital at 7PM) Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM, Monday, January 29 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with a procession following to Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Reception afterwards will be held at St. Peter & Paul Hall, located at 386 N. Castell Ave., New Braunfels, Tx. 78130.
