Dennis Carter Johnson was called home to our Lord on June 13, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Charles F. Johnson and Hazel Nelson Johnson. Charles and Hazel were born in Hamburg, Iowa and lived in Corpus Christi after Charles was discharged from the U. S. Navy in 1942.

Dennis graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1965, and attended Delmar College and Texas A&M.

Following college, he worked for Humble Oil & Refining Company in Houston, TX and Coastal States Refinery and Weatherford in Corpus Christi, TX.
Dennis was raised in a Christian home and was baptized in 1956 at Prescott Christian Church in Corpus Christi, TX. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Gruene United Methodist Church in New Braunfels, TX.

Dennis enjoyed sailing, saltwater fishing, and obtained his pilot license. Later, he purchased a 100th anniversary Harley Davidson to cruise about. After retiring, he went on to obtain his FEMA contractor license and worked at several natural disaster locations.

Dennis was married to Lynn Johnson Cohea (daughter Tara Lynn Cohea-Zaring), Kathi Johnson (son Dustin Charles Johnson), and Sandra Johnson. He is survived by his wife Sandra, children, Tara, Dustin, Kayla Bentley, daughter-in-law, 7 grand-children Michael Zaring, Ryan Zaring, Morgan Zaring Prisco, Lauren Zaring Thompson, Camden Jayce Bentley-Johnson, Carter Gray Bentley-Johnson, Kyler Ann Bentley-Johnson, and numerous great-grandchildren and friends.

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents and wife, Kathi.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Gruene United Methodist Church, 2629 E. Common Street, New Braunfels, TX. 78130. Refreshments and visitation following service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dennis to Gruene United Methodist Church or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Burial will be at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, Iowa.
