Deryl Gray Bolin of New Braunfels, Texas formerly of Carrizo Springs, Texas passed away peacefully on February 9, 2016 at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bonham, Texas on November 27, 1934. He was the sixth of seven children born to Jack and Ola Hilley Bolin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ladine Stanton Bolin; sister Elnona Miller (Kingwood, TX) and Phillip; daughter Sheryl Prestidge and Jim (Cypress, TX), and children, Kelsey and Hailey Prestidge (Houston, TX); daughter Deanya Thomas (New Braunfels, TX) and children, Amanda Klein and Joseph (New Braunfels, TX), Stephanie Solansky and Frank (Rockport, TX), and Colton Thomas and Lena (Jakarta, Indonesia), and their father, Stafford Thomas (Carrizo Springs, TX); daughter Teri Lu Bolin (Austin, TX) and her children, Makenzi Joy and Shawn (New Braunfels, TX) and Austin Joy and Bailey (New Braunfels, TX); and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Ava Klein, Marlo Klein, Frank Solansky III, Grayson Joy, Brady Solansky, Heidi Klein, Jaxyn Cope, and Emmett Joy.
Deryl was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He dedicated his entire life to his wife and family. There was never a sweeter soul. He was one of a kind. God broke the mold when he made him. A humble man, he will be remembered by the hundreds of lives he touched, for his gentle unassuming manner, his love for political debates, his strength and courage, and most of all, his unconditional love. He was the most giving, loving, hardworking, and dedicated family man. He was passionate about flying, airplanes, old western movies, spending time on the Guadalupe River, drinking coffee with Mr. Norman Lehman, hunting and fishing with grandkids and great grandkids, and watching his family bloom and grow. He never missed a team roping, dance recital, livestock show, swim meet, basketball game, soccer game, baseball game, etc. that one of his babies was involved in. He always made sure that his babies were "getting their lessons". His favorite places were Red River, New Mexico and Garner State Park. He never met a stranger. He always saw the good in people and never judged. He is deeply loved and will be truly missed by not only his family, but by all those who crossed paths with him.
Deryl is preceded in death by his father Jack Bolin; mother Ola Hilley Bolin; sisters Durrell and Wanda Ruth; brothers Jack Dale, Pete, and Sonny.

Papa, I was lucky enough to meet you and the whole family when I taught special education at Murchison Middle School in 2004 and I was instantly welcomed by you, Nana and the whole family. Megan and I were just part of the family from that point forward and so honored to be included in so many memories….you and that coffee pot you would walk around with to greet us when we came and stayed overnight or the countless times we came down for bar-b-ques, holidays and fun and had such great times. I imagine you are up there in heaven with that coffee pot making everyone feel welcome, or playing with your family or walking around, talking with everyone. You were and are one of the greatest men i have ever had the honor of knowing….we will miss you.
