Resided in: New Braunfels, TX

Doris Jean Talman Hutchison peacefully earned her angel wings on January 18, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1934 to Floyd and Cordelia Talman and grew up in the oil patch outside of Refugio, Texas. She graduated in 1952 from Refugio High School.

In 1955 she married Daniel Martin Hutchison Jr. and they had two sons, Daniel Martin III and Walter William. In their 56 years of marriage, Doris and Dan traveled Texas following Dan’s career in finance and banking. After living in Victoria, Alice, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Amarillo, and Nacogdoches, they settled back in New Braunfels in 1968. Oma, as she was affectionally known, was a giving wife, mother, and grandmother. Over the years she worked at the Refugio County Courthouse, a New Braunfels hosiery mill, and Comco Insurance. She was a den mother for her boys’ Cub Scout pack and spent many years caring for her mother, husband, favorite aunt, grandchildren, and friends’ children.

Doris is survived by her sons Daniel Martin III “Marty” (Linda) and Walter (Kari); four grandchildren, Diane Benting (Mike), Daniel Martin Hutchison IV (Donna), Kerrick Hutchison (Ashli), and Tara Reese (Jordon); eight great-grandchildren Nami, Daniel Martin V, Cason, Calli, James, Reagan, Jolie, and Declan; and niece, Ecila Hutson Butts. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings, Floyd S. and James Patrick Talman, and Lenora Alice Hutson.

No services are planned. The family will gather later this spring to celebrate Oma at her favorite area on the Texas Coast. If you would like to remember Doris, please consider donating to New Braunfels Presbyterian Church.
