May 27, 1940 ~ October 26, 2023

Born in: Dallas, Texas
Resided in: New Braunfels, Texas

Mrs. Dorothy Sharon Kreps (Elliott) passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 26, 2023, in New Braunfels, TX at the age of 83.

Sharon was born in Dallas, TX on May 27, 1940, to her parents George James and Annie Mae Elliott. She had one brother, Benjamin (Ben) Elliott. The family moved to her father’s hometown of Calvert when she was very young. Sharon was also very proud to be from Calvert, where she graduated high school in 1958 in a class of 13 students who all went to school together since 1st grade. She loved attending combined class reunions and talking about old times. She had a love of music and almost took a scholarship to Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. Instead, she took a different route into accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for Houston Lighting and Power. She eventually moved to Austin in 1966 where she worked at Rylander’s
Grocery Store and eventually ended up having a long career at Tracor Aerospace in Austin. But it was at Rylander’s where she met her future husband, Joe.

Sharon married Joe Kreps on July 9, 1969. They would never spend a day apart for 54 years until Sharon’s passing. They had one child, the apple of Sharon's eye, Joseph McKinley “Mack” Kreps, Jr. From that point on she was best known as Mom. She was a loving and wonderful mother who later embraced a “daughter”; once her son got married to Denise Reyna in 1993. Sharon and Joe moved to New Braunfels, TX that same year.

She retired in 1997 and in 2001 she became a grandmother when her granddaughter Faith was born. She then became known as “Granny.” This was the same name that her mother was called by her grandchildren, and this made her so happy. In 2007 she became Granny of two when her granddaughter Sonnie was born.

Being a mother and a grandmother defined Sharon. She was so proud of her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Sharon absolutely loved spending time with her big brother and his wife Nancy. She loved her weekly phone conversations with Ben and Nancy. She always enjoyed going to visit them and seeing her nephews and their families.

While Joe and Sharon were steadfast believers all their lives, it wasn't until around 2002 that Joe read about a little church called The Country Church, not 15 minutes from home, where he could wear jeans and boots and be welcomed. He told Sharon about it and she was all-in! That little church would change and enrich their lives from their very first visit all the way into eternity. Joe and Sharon studied God's Word and prayed together, and as the church thrived and grew, so also Joe and Sharon grew spiritually as they walked with Jesus alongside this great fellowship of like-minded Christians. For many years they also enjoyed attending Pecan Grove Country Church in Lytle, TX where they grew in their faith as well. Sharon loved gospel music and thoroughly enjoyed listening to Joe play and sing. She would even occasionally sing with him.

Sharon loved to be around her family, go to church, bake, cook, shop, go to the movies and of course attend Texas Longhorn football games. She and Joe went to games for years and started taking Mack at the age of six. She bled orange and looked forward to football season every year. She never missed a game whether it was on the radio, TV or attending in person. She and Joe were also fortunate enough to have a close relationship with Denise’s family and for 30 years they spent all holidays with their blended family. Sharon led a life that we all dream of. She was very loved, and she was
always happy.

She is survived by her son Mack Kreps (Denise Kreps) and her cherished grandchildren Faith and Sonnie, her beloved big brother Benjamin Elliott (Nancy Elliott), her three nephews and their families, cousins, friends, and extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held for both Sharon and Joe Kreps at The Country Church, 1005 W. FM 78 in Marion, TX on February 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Sharon battled a long illness but kept on going for over a year after she was told she only had a few months to live. The family would like to thank those who visited her, called her, came and sang for her and those who prayed for and with her. Also, her hairdresser Renee took the time to come see her every Saturday which was one of the highlights of her week.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Sharon's caretaker, Louise Hanna, from Home Instead.  She provided extraordinary, loving care during the final year and half of her life. The family would also like to thank Hope Hospice for the amazing care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels would be appreciated.
