Frances “Arlene” Schroedter, born October 30, 1945, passed peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, October 26, 2023, just days before her 78th Birthday. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to so many! She will truly be missed.
Arlene was the fourth of five children born to Harley V. Duncan and Laura Frances Patterson Ory. She and her four siblings were born in Aransas Pass, Texas. After the passing of her father at the age of 32, the family moved around and later settled in the Corpus Christi area where she grew up and attended school.

Arlene met and married Donald Wayne Harvey in 1961 and they had two daughters, Donna and Patricia. They lived and raised their family for many years in Corpus Christi.

Later in life, Arlene met and married Norman Schroedter. They made their home in Mathis on Lake Corpus Christi. They enjoyed being out on the lake bass fishing. Watching football was a favorite pastime. Arlene and Norman loved hosting fish fries and BBQ “get togethers” at the lake, enjoying time spent with grandkids, family, and friends.

Arlene retired from the Corpus Christi Independent School District in 2015 after suffering a severe stroke. She was loved by everyone she worked with throughout the years, staff, teachers, and students alike. After her stroke she moved to New Braunfels to be closer to her family.
From a young age Arlene loved to play games with family and friends. Arlene was always a hard worker. She gave her all at work and made those she came in contact with laugh and feel seen. She loved the time spent with her daughters, grandkids, family, and friends. She was all smiles when she and Norman headed to Aggie Land, excited to spend time with her grandkids, family and attending an Aggie football game or two.

Arlene also loved old 50’s and 60’s reruns, funny sitcoms, Perry Mason, and she especially adored movies with Doris Day. After moving to New Braunfels, she shared her love for old tv shows and movies with her youngest granddaughter Reagan. She treasured the time spent after school or on a lazy weekend day, where they’d cut-up and laugh together at all the antics on those old comedies.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Schroedter, parents, Harley V. Duncan, Laura Frances Patterson Ory, Stepdad Enoch Ory. One brother Thomas Sidney Duncan, as well as three sisters and brother-in-law’s; Barbara Ida (Betty) Duncan Young (brother-in-law Benny), Violet Grace Duncan Bolen (brother-in-law George), Diana Murlene Duncan Warren (brother-in-law Trent).

Arlene is survived by daughters, Donna (Brad) Sanders and Patricia (Richard) Cortez and and two granddaughters, Ashleigh (Kyle) Giese and Reagan Cortez; and great grandson Kaleb Giese. Brother Leslie Ory of Dallas TX and numerous nieces, nephews as well as loved friends.

No service is planned at this time; however, her family will celebrate her life at a later time. Her cremains will be spread next to her beloved husband Norman.
