Gary Lee Counseler

Gary Lee Counseler, 79, of New Braunfels, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in San Antonio. Born on May 23, 1935 in Greendale Township, Michigan, he was the son of the late Gerald and Hazel Counseller. Gary proudly served in the United States Army for seven years as cook, after which he continued as a cook for various restaurants. After retirement, Gary did maintenance work for the United States Postal Service. Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Counseler; son, Robert Counseler; daughter, Vicky Hernandez and her husband Tom; grandchildren, Jody Barrigar and her husband Aaron, and Travis Hernandez and his wife Kayla; great grandchildren, Dylan, Bryce and Isla Barrigar; half-sister, Julene McDougal and her husband Raymond; half-brothers, Jerry and John Counseller; and sister, Joyce Debeau. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Cross Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's name to the Cross Lutheran Church.
