George Holland Malmberg
December 2, 1954 ~ April 16, 2024
George Holland Malmberg, 69, entered his permanent home with Jesus on April 16, 2024. He was born December 2, 1954, in Tyler, Texas, the son of the late Charles Burton Malmberg and Margaret Holland Malmberg.
George spent his childhood and school years in Houston, San Antonio, and Lubbock, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Jana Marshall. They were married on December 30, 1978. George worked for Albertsons as a store director in Alabama and Florida. While in Alabama, George and Jana were blessed with their daughter, Stephanie Lynn Malmberg, and while in Florida, they were blessed with their son, Charles Holland Malmberg. Loving his family more than his career, George moved his family back to San Antonio, Texas, where he owned and operated his own business, GHM & Associates. He worked as an Executive Recruiter with clients throughout the country and in Mexico. George and Jana moved to Spring Branch, Texas in 2001, enjoying a new phase of their life as grandparents.
George loved people and made friends wherever he went. He loved playing golf, hunting deer, working in the yard, and studying the stock market.
George was a prankster and loved kidding around with his grandkids (who called him “G”) and his friends. His Lord, family, and friends were everything to George. He talked about God wherever he went. He was an extremely generous man, always wanting to help people either with his time, talents, or money.
Lewy Body Dementia destroyed his brain but could not touch his soul or spirit. With the progression of his disease, he moved into a memory care community, Bella Groves. His family will be forever grateful to the caregivers at Bella Groves.
George always signed his letters, cards, and texts with “Love Always” and will be always loved and deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Jana Marshall Malmberg, children, Stephanie and Jeremy Rizzo, and Charlie and Megan Malmberg, grandchildren Braxton, Nate, and Lincoln Rizzo, and Kenna, Cade, and Clare Malmberg, numerous extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service is being planned.
George had a huge heart and loved to unexpectedly bless people because he felt God had blessed him so much. In lieu of flowers please give an unexpected blessing to someone you see that needs it.
I am going to miss George! I was friends with George before Jana and I introduced them! I have a lot of fun memories from college until recently when he passed to go to heaven! There is a wild story with him and a bunch of other college kids. He drove us to Palo Duro Canyon and for some reason we were in a hurry and had a blowout at a high rate of speed! He was quick to bring the car to a stop on the side and no one in the packed car was injured! In those days, seatbelts were never worn! We had fun times together with our families floating the river, eating fun places, hanging out, weddings and all those things you do as a family! We lived far apart so I am sad we didn’t get to be together more often but we enjoyed the times we had together! Over the years, George became like a brother, not just an “in-law” to me! He is already very missed! Love you….Jana, Stephanie and Charlie!

Too many great memories to write down. He was a great Christian man. We hunted together for years. Had Bible studies on my front porch with coffee. Played golf together for 20 years. Talked about everything. He was like a brother. We even argued like brothers! He will be missed.
Loved our trip to Vegas and getting to meet some amazing people…Will continue praying for family and will definitely pay George’s kindness forward ❤️♥️beautiful words about a Godly man.. sending love and prayers
Great Memories of attending same Church, watching Our Kids together at Church, playing dominoes together, being neighbors in RC, and time spent at the cabin. We shared pride in seeing Our Sons as Partners in their growing business. I enjoyed seeing George and Phil go hunting and playing golf together.
George was a wonderful Christian man that shared God’s love through service to others. He always called me his sister. We will truly miss George, but we are happy that he is free of pain and now with our Lord and Savior.
Our prayers are for Jana, Charlie & Family, and Stephanie and Family as they grieve his passing! Sending Our Love to All of You!❤️🙏🏻❤️

We met George and Jana while we were clearing our property and becoming neighbors in 2001 . . George was always our first call when we needed help with anything and became my first call when Paul was out of town He would jump in his truck when I had a snake in the yard or a rabit possum. I will never forget he shot at the possum and put a bullet in my outside dry wall!! . MY HERO 💙 A wonderful friend neighbor and Christian. He loved life, had a quick wit.and a beautiful smile. God received a sweet angel when he entered heaven. Gone too soon but never forgotten!! . Memories never leave our hearts. Blessings to Jana Stephanie and Charlie and the extended Malmberg family. With love and prayers Debbie and Paul Madura
George was a fine Cristian soul who would do anything to help anybody. Enjoyed playing golf with he and Phil Collins on occasion. He was always working on some aspect of the game even when his physical limitations started to catch up with him. A kind man. He will be missed but we’ll see each in glory.
One of the things I remember about George was his availability. He was always ready to help you with anything you needed. Often you did not even have to ask. If he heard you talking about something he would ask if he could help. I used to travel a lot and he let my wife Candy know if she needed anything while I was gone just give him a call. You could always count on George. Our prayers go out to the family.
Well George, you have the reward you earned by enthusiastically loving the Lord and people! It happened too soon for those of. us who enjoyed having you here. You were the heart of our life group, doing your best to keep us going whenever we lapsed. If you liked a certain product, especially food, you wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. I’m still using the deli ham you sold me on when I ran into you at the store! I’m sure Jana would love to know how often you referred to her as your “smokin’ hot wife! You didn’t give in to your health challenges, always pushing to stay strong. We hope you’re enjoying your new heavenly body! We miss you and send love to your family.
My friendship with George went back 30 plus years to our time at Parkhills in San Antonio. While we rarely saw each other, we stayed in close personal contact since the time Kelli and I left in 1995. I called him “Georgie” which was so counter to his big personality and physical stature. What a blessing it was to call him my friend…he was like that big brother who willingly listened and offered advice (lots of it). He will forever remain in my heart and I admired him tremendously. For the Malmberg family: he spoke so fondly of each of you and his deep love for his family. I know with confidence we will meet again with our deep rooted faith and trust in Jesus. May God bless Jana and his family.
Jana and family,
We just learned about George’s passing. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are being sent to you during this difficult time. Sending hugs.
Fondly,
Clint and Lisa Blundon, and family
G was my grandpa and I miss him.
