Gerard “Jerry” Edmund Fowler

Gerard Edmund Fowler, 74, of New Braunfels, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening, August 10, 2026. Gerard was born on January 24, 1952, in the Bronx, New York. He moved to Houston in 1973.

Gerard became a Houston police officer in 1974. He proudly protected and served the community until his retirement on December 28, 2001, earning several commendations for going above and beyond in his service.

Gerard loved the water, motorcycle rides, the outdoors, music, his family, and life in general.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Lincoln Fowler and Ellen Elizabeth Fowler; his oldest son, Raymond Michael Fowler; and his brother-in-law, Al Mewbourn.

Gerard is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Osorto, and her husband, Henry; his son, Brian Fowler; his sister, Eileen Mewbourn; his twin brother, Thomas “Tom” Fowler, and his wife, Debbie; six grandchildren, Amanda, Tyler, Megan, Jonathan, Madison, and Ross; and two great-grandchildren, Roxas and Amberle.

He is also survived by his niece, Kelly Billo, her husband, Josh, and their children, Audrey and Cameron; and his nephew, Patrick Fowler, his wife, Aimee, and their children, Luke and Robyn.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel, 1254 N. Business Interstate Highway 35, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 245 S. Hidalgo Avenue, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A reception will follow immediately after Mass in the church hall. The family kindly asks anyone planning to attend the reception to RSVP to: jerryfowlerreception@gmail.com

Interment will take place at a later date at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
