  1. Let me first offer my deepest condolences to the entire family of Gilbert “Gibo” Morales”. I met Gibo the alto sax player back in 1969 when we started our music career playing for Johnny Moreno and the Latin Sounds. We were also members of the horn sections that played for the late Henry Aleman’s Generation Band, for Little Pete y Los Miracles, the Augustine Ramirez Orchestra and we were two of the original horn section members of the Tierra Tejana Band. Gibo was a quiet guy that played the alto sax with a very pretty tone, was a second-generation musician and a descendent of the family that owned El Salón Morales dance hall that existed in the 1930’s in the corner of Plum St /Spur St (S.A. St.), Barrio Seco in New Braunfels. Throughout the years, Gibo and I performed for the bands mentioned above at social events, public dances, rural dance halls, big city ballrooms, concerts, and super dances, across Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois. I was told that he was a single parent that raised his two sons himself, so that’s another reason I’m proud of him. In the late 70’s I lost contact with Gibo but he still remained a horn section partner in my heart. Gibo, may you rest in peace.
