Gilberto "Gilbert" Martinez

Gilberto "Gilbert" Martinez, 74, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, June 15, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 8:30 am, Saturday, June 21 at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, 705 E. University Dr., Edinburg, Texas 78539, Reverend Armando Alvarado will be officiating.
Gilbert was born November 20, 1939 in Edinburg, Texas to Apolonio and Teofila Martinez. On May 26, 1963 he married Pura Martinez in Edinburg, Texas. Throughout his career, Gilbert owned various gas service stations and received multiple recognition awards for his dedicated contributions to excellence. He retired several years ago and moved to San Antonio, Texas where he was able to enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gilbert celebrated 51 years of marriage and is survived by his wife Pura, daughter Missy (Dan) Wilcox and sons Tyler, Zachary and Ryan, daughter Mona Daniels and daughters Mady and Coco and their father, Gordon, son Gilbert (Marion) Martinez, son Rudy (Maribel) Martinez and children Matthew, Jacob and Mariel. He is also survived by two sisters Eva M Trevino, Maria M Gonzalez and two brothers Reynaldo Martinez and Daniel Martinez. He will also be missed by his many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and his beloved dog, Paco. Gilbert was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Estimada familia, gracias a Dios que son creyentes en la resurrecin por Jesucristo. Aunque al momento hay dolor y tristeza, no olvidemos que Gilberto est en manos de Dios sin ninguna enfermedad, ni dolor alguno. Si Dios recogi a uno de sus hijos, creemos que l dara la consolacin a toda la familia. Juan 3:16 lo dice todo. Nos reuniremos con Gilberto si seguimos el camino que nos lleva a la vida eterna.
