Giovanni Cross McKinley, of New Braunfels, TX, and formerly of Rosedale, MD suddenly passed away on August 19, 2023.  He was 16 years old. ‘Gio’, as his friends and family knew him, was born on March 14, 2007 in Cottonwood, AZ to Linda and Noah McKinley. The family then moved to Rosedale, MD, where he spent many years and learned to know as his home. He was a rising junior at New Braunfels High School.

Gio was well-known by his friends and family for his love of venturing outside, playing with his friends, avidly gaming, biking, swimming – doing anything that brought him joy. And right by his side through every adventure was his younger brother Aries. They were the best of friends in gaming, playing, and teasing each other as brothers do. Many will remember Gio for his love of his parents, friends and his dog Brody. Unlike most angsty teenagers, Gio would walk right up to his mother and those he was close to and give full hugs full of love and warmth.

Gio is survived by his mother, Linda; father, Noah and partner Jess; brother, Aries; grandparents, Kathy, Myra + George, their son Tim; uncles, Robert, Frank and Steve; aunts,  Pam and Jessi; Godmother, Sarah and close friends including Kayden, Owen, Aiden, Jada and Tyler.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Freedom Fellowship Church, 410 Oak Run Point, New Braunfels, 78132.  Funeral services will follow starting at 12 p.m. followed by a reception in the church reception hall.   Monetary donations to assist with funeral expenses may be made by calling Lux Funeral Home at (830) 624-0500.
