Guadalupe Caballero Cantu

Guadalupe Caballero Cantu, of New Braunfels, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the age of 92. Guadalupe was born on February 25, 1931, to Pablo Caballero and Victoria Leos Caballero. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her aunt and uncle Roman and Maria Caballero. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Cantu; her parents: Pablo and Victoria, Roman and Maria; and her sister Bernarda and brothers Francisco, Fulgencio, Roman, and Reyes.

Guadalupe passed away peacefully and comfortably in her sleep. She is survived by sister-in-law, Felipa Caballero (Reyes Caballero +); many nieces and nephews; Lolly Eulalia Caballero, her niece whom she raised as her daughter; Lolly’s children: Ernest Garcia II (Melissa), Jessica G Martinez (James Sr), and Laura Garcia; and Lolly’s grandchildren: James Jr, Angelina, John, Jaelynn, Timothy, Aubriana, and Mia.

Guadalupe had a beautiful smile that always brought people joy. She had a servant’s heart and experienced joy through serving her husband, family, and friends – often times in the form of hospitality and home-cooked meals. She had a natural gift for caregiving, helping to care for her sister and brothers in their younger years, her many nieces and nephews, and their children. She favored the peace and comfort of her own home, and she also enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed attending church and receiving prayer. She led a very simplistic life, where simply being in the moment with her loved ones brought her pure joy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ernest Garcia II, Timothy Garcia, James Martinez Jr, John Martinez, Reyes Caballero Jr, Jesus Caballero, and Juan Pablo Caballero.
