Helen Mojica
October 26, 1957 ~ March 25, 2016
Helen O. Castro Mojica, 58, of New Braunfels, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 in New Braunfels. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Abundant Harvest Church in Brownfield. Interment will be private.
Helen was born on October 26, 1957 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to the late Felix Castro Sr. and Esther Oviedo Castro. She was a graduate of South Plains College where she received her degree in Nursing. Helen worked many years for the Brownfield Hospital in the Labor & Delivery department where she helped deliver countless babies. Helen's most cherished accomplishment was being a Registered Nurse. She was known for her contagious smile and she definitely ruled the O.B. when present.
She was infamous for her crochet blankets. Helen would work for hours on completing them for those she loved dear. Crocheting was something that she enjoyed, and did it very well.
Helen was a huge animal lover. She was generous, kind, loved to make others around her laugh, and was otherwise just happy to be alive.
Helen leaves behind two sons, Jimmi Castro and Leti of Plainview, TX, and Lazareth Rodriguez and Theresa of New Braunfels, TX; one brother, Nabor Castro and Janie of Amarillo, TX; four sisters, Susie Jimenez and Eddie of Andrews, TX, Ruby Castro and David Zambrano of Brownfield, TX, Hope Rodriguez and Aurelio of Brownfield, TX, and Dolores Hinojosa of Sundown, TX; four granddaughters, Emeli, Madison and Katie Castro, all of Plainview, and Mia Alvarez of New Braunfels; one grandson, Lazareth Brandon Rodriguez of Brownfield and a very dear friend Maria Campos. Also surviving are many nephews, nieces and cousins from Texas, Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Natali Alize Rodriguez; sisters, Rebecca Castro, Angie O. Galvan, Janie Zarragoza, and Betty Peralez; brothers, Jimmy Castro and Felix Castro, Jr.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
