  1. My family always ate really good hamburgers at Dismuke’s Pharmacy counter every Saturday night. My dad was friends with Mr. Dismukes . I seem to recall that his nickname was “Dizzy.” Mrs. Dismukes and an older son also were there all time. Their youngest daughter, Mary Martha, and I were the same age and we were friends. We had the most adventures you could ever wish for. Mary Martha knew where all the interesting places were–mostly places we shouldn’t have gone to such as up in the attic over Walker’s Department store. I spent many a happy hour up in the office above Dismukes too. I lived in the country and as a country mouse I enjoyed it all immensely. Mr. Dismukes was a character that you wouldn’t be likely to find today. When I last visited Luling I really missed the Dismukes and their old fashioned drugstore. May you rest in peace Mr, Dismukes!
