Herminia Espinoza Mejia, affectionately known as "Minnie", passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the age of 86. Herminia was born on February 20, 1927 in New Braunfels to Pedro Espinoza and Maria Dolores Jimenez Espinoza. "Minnie" was a long-time employee for New Braunfels High School, retiring in 1995 after 12-years of dedicated service. Survivors include her sons, Hector Mejia and fiance, Cindy, Richard Mejia and wife, Julie and David Mejia and wife, Neva; daughter, Sylvia Mejia Mizell and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Hector Hernandez, Kenny Mejia and Carolyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hernandez, Angel Lynn Mejia, Aaliyah Rodriguez and Jesse Mejia; sister, Carmen Espinoza; brother, Julio Espinoza and wife, Connie, and sister-in-law, Virginia Medina Espinoza. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a celebration of life service scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Camillo Botello, Jr., MSF-celebrant. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Please note: there will not be a procession from the funeral home to the church on Wednesday morning. All wishing to attend the Funeral Mass are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 AM on Wednesday morning.

  1. My love and prayers are with all the family. I love you all and am on call for you 24/7. Minnie will be missed by us all. She wss a very special lady. I never once heard her complain about anything. If asked she would always say”im all right”. The state of Texas wont be the same without her. But heaven has gaind an angel.
