Hilmar Rennie Guenther, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 with his wife by his side.

Born on January 1, 1941 in New Braunfels to Hilmar Frank and Judith Ann (Hosek) Guenther. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Lee Schumann on June 9, 1962 in New Braunfels, Texas.

Rennie was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, David Churchman. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; children, Bryan Guenther (Kenda), Gregory Guenther (Leann), Rebecca Guenther (Jenna); grandchildren, Anthony Grant, Katelynn Guenther, Alix Guenther, and Katie Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Rhyland Alejo-Waits, Alaina and Grady Grant; sisters-in-law, Marlene Churchman, and Mary Lou Borchers (Randy); brother-in-law, Herman Borchers (Florence); and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the New Braunfels Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund at PO Box 311058, New Braunfels, Texas 78131 or Hope Hospice at 611 N Walnut Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

A Celebration of Rennie’s Life will be held at a later date.

  2. Words cannot express or describe how much love Rennie brought into the life of my family and the way he influenced, inspired and was a major part of our lives. He made us feel special and always had the time to share with us. I am forever blessed having him in my life and will always have a special place in my heart that glows bright from the depths of my soul.

  7. Rennie goes way back in my memories! He played bass guitar with The Pfeil Brother’s Band & sang some good classic country songs, especially at The Farmer’s Daughter every Thursday night for several years..Then Wurstfest with the Polka music, quite an Entertainer! My Smpathy & thoughts are with you All! 🙏

  12. Rennie was a wonderful man and a great musician. He, his wife, Ed Kadlechek and I were in charge of the Kinderchor for 20 years. We keep the family in our prayers.
