James Edward Krause

Krause, James Edward, 80, passed away on March 7, 2025 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on September 6, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Margaret Rinner Krause and Edmund Krause.

Jim went to Catholic school from 1st to 12 grade. He attended church every Sunday no matter what, unless he was really sick, which hardly ever happened. He would try and find a church to go to even when out of town. Jim would recite the rosary every morning and include his friends in his prayers. He proudly served in the Air National Guard from 1964-1968.

He lived for today and worried about tomorrow tomorrow. He was easy going and loved to be in the garage tinkering or building T-Buckets. He liked to use things and change them into something they were not intended for. Like taking a satellite dish and mounting it to a tree in his BBQ area for a shelf. He liked to BBQ and have friends over and have fun like swimming in the lake and ride his toys (mini bike, dirt bike and his go carts) up and down the road.

When his daughter Stacy was born he was extremely happy and he loved her very much. He was there for her in any way she needed.

He met his wife Cindy in 1989. When they first started dating, Cindy told him not to send flowers on Valentine’s Day or any special occasion because flowers are too expensive and they only last a few days. When Valentine’s Day came around he brought a small empty coke bottle with one rose in it with a note that said: “One Rose for my one and only!” He hand delivered this to her office. Jim would write love notes on a sticky note and put them all around the house for Cindy to eventually find them.

He was so excited when Ryan was born. Jim was a morning person (which Cindy was not) and he was always in the garage so Jim would take Ryan to the garage with him early in the morning (on weekends) so to let Cindy sleep in. Jim retired early and loved the fact that he could take Ryan to/from school and tennis practice when he was in high school.

Jim loved cars, the drags, car shows, buying and selling them often and building T-Buckets. Jim and his dad built his 1st car that he drove to/from Central Catholic HS in 1962, his senior year. Jim had 7 T-Buckets over the years. Jim and his dad built 5 of them together. Jim liked being in shape and worked out religiously over the 35 years Jim and Cindy have been married. When they first started dating he would call her at work and say “I’m going to the gym after I get off work so if you want to get together I’ll see you at the gym or I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Life with Jim was great and special. From his wife Cindy, “He loved me for me with all my faults and I the same with him. He made my life better and happier than life before him.”

Jim was preceded in death by his son Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cynthia Krause; and his daughter Stacy (Dan) Kay, grandson Heath, granddaughter Harlow and sister Jeannine (Mike) Simmons.

  1. Jeannine and Mike…I’m so sorry. What an amazing man to fight that illnes so long. I still remember Jimmy and Uncle Eddie working in their garage. Even as a little kid, I was impressed by his passion for cars. He was good man. RIP cousin.

  2. I met Jimmy when we were both about 12 years old. My family moved in next door to his family. Having them for neighbors was a huge blessing. Jimmy and I did a lot of crazy fun things together as teenagers. I haven’t seen him much in later years. But am already missing him.
