James "Jim" Sampson

Jim was born in San Antonio as a 4 pounder to his parents, George Sampson and Geraldine Lamm. Adored by them and his grandparents. They later moved to Detroit Michigan where he joined ROTC program and then joined the US Air Force and worked his way up to become a Colonel, then onto the Texas Veterans Commission for 18 years of serving veterans. His tours of duty included Germany, Alabama, 2 tours in San Antonio, Texas, 3 tours at the Pentagon, Washington DC., Honolulu, which was cut short to leave back to the Pentagon. He later worked for the Texas Veterans Commission 18 years. Retired to the beautiful and very peaceful acres of his new home in the Texas Hill County in River Chase. He loved to read and had a brilliant mind and a giving heart. Never a dull moment when he was well and happy.
While living in Honolulu and working out of Hickam Air Force Base at Pearl Harbor He met the love of his life Lucy. They had a fantastic time together and later married in June 26th, 1987 at Foster Point Pearl Harbor, and had spent a wonderful 39 years together. The love story ended far too soon. There were more chapters to be written.
Left to cherish his memory are his Children, Melissa and David (Tara) and precious beloved grandchildren, Jack and Lydia, of Australia. Cherished siblings brother David (Cass), Sister Mary, sister in law Diane. His beloved cuddlers the Standard Poodles, his favorite Jax, Rosie, Olivia, Pearl and Sam, His special kitties, Mr. Friendly, Emerald and Maybeline

My sincere condolences! Jim was responsible for helping me through high school. He was so intelligent and was so willing to share his “smarts” with fellow classmates. I was not surprised that he was so successful in his career in the Air Force! He will be missed!
