Resided in: San Marcos, TX

JoAnn Uriegas, 66, of San Marcos, TX passed away peacefully on July 8. 2023, at Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle TX. JoAnn was born on April 24, 1957 to Willie Uriegas Sr. and Marlene Uriegas of Forked Island, Louisiana. She attended E. Broussard High School, in Cow Island, LA. She went on to become a CNA and worked many years for Kaplan Healthcare Center, in Kaplan, LA, and also for Home Health and Hospice as a CNA.

JoAnn devoted her life to the service of others by giving back to her community and had a passion and deep love for children. There was never a time where she wasn’t offering to babysit and never passed up a good Disney movie with the children. She enjoyed watching western movies, reading novels, love stories, playing bingo, cooking, singing, dancing,  and sewing when she wasn’t spending time with her family. She collected books, and movies. Blockbuster had nothing on her movie gallery collection, and she made the best chicken and dumplings.

Her Christian life was as beautiful as the sunflowers that she loved, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life with her family by her side. JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Amanda Rios and husband Pablo III of San Marcos, TX, granddaughter Natalie Villalobos and husband Elias of New Braunfels, TX, grandson Pablo Rios IV and fiancé Zoriada of San Marcos, TX, and great grandson Zayden Levi Rios of San Marcos, TX, six siblings MaryAnn Cisneros and husband John of Kyle, TX, Rose (Holly) Albarado and husband Jimmy of Kyle, TX, May Dora Abshire and husband Lonnie of Kaplan, LA, Ada Lemaire and fiancé Jay of Cow Island, LA, Max Uriegas and wife Christine of Rayne, LA, Daniel (Danny) Uriegas of Lake Charles, LA. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. JoAnn is predeceased by parents Willie and Marlene Uriegas, seven siblings Willie (Buster) Uriegas Jr, Jerry Uriegas, Shirley Uriegas, Richard (Ricky) Uriegas, Johnny (Buck) Uriegas, Michael Uriegas, and Opal Meaux.
