JO NELL HUSTED (PARKER-STARNS) Jo Nell Husted went to her final reward on February 29, 2016, passing away at the age of 85 after a long illness. She was a longtime resident of Madisonville, Texas as well as St. Louis, Missouri, returning to her home state of Texas to spend her final years in New Braunfels. Jo Nell is survived by daughter Jo Linda Allen and her husband Thomas Grayson Allen of New Braunfels; son Paul Husted and his wife Beth Husted of St. Louis; sister Mary Ann Morgan of Vinton, LA; granddaughter Codey Messick and her husband Ethan Messick of New Braunfels, along with great-grandsons Luke and Levi Messick; niece Deborah Ann Morgan of Houston, TX, and great-nephew Kris Bailey also of Houston. Jo Nell was preceded in death by her parents, her son Graydon Carrol Starns, and her grandson Joshua Grayson Allen. Born November 16, 1930 in Madison County, Texas to Thomas Riley Parker and Bessie Mae Taft Floyd, Jo Nell was raised as a Southern Baptist and went on to be a faithful practicing Christian throughout her life. Throughout her adult years she was proudly employed as a bookkeeper in the retail industry and had a longtime love of thrift-shopping and skillfully refinishing furniture. She was a beloved and hardworking mother who faced her illness bravely and will be much missed. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Gruene United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association at: alz.org

  5. As a younger cousin, I remember some of her antics while at Uncle Boo’s farm. Fond memories. My condolences to her family.
