John Goodwin Honse 81 years of Fischer, Texas died Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, at home.

• John was born October 5, 1942, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late Samuel Atlee Honse and Dorothy Alice (Cousins) Honse.
• John graduated from Butler Area High School in June 1960, after which he joined the United States Army at age 17. He went on to become a decorated helicopter crew chief serving 8 ½ years including 2 extended tours in Vietnam.
• After serving 8 ½ years in the US Army, John was a lifetime member of the VFW in Pattaya Thailand where he made his home and started his career as an international consultant. He worked in multiple countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, and Indonesia. John’s career included working for companies such as Dynalectron Corp, Lear Siegler Corp, Northrop Paige, PA&E, Petromer Trend, Union Texas, Huffco Brauntis, Petro China, Arco and BP. He oversaw many projects including the disassembling of a liquid natural gas plant and shipping it to Indonesia. John was very proud of his extensive career and managed to rise to the role of Maintenance and Construction Superintendent before finishing his work overseas and moving stateside in 2004. He worked at a sulfur mine in Silver Peak, Nevada from 2007 until 2018 when he retired. After his son George graduated from Tonopah High School he moved back to Texas where he built a house on an acre of land in the Hill Country.
• John was preceded in death by his older brother Atlee Heath Honse, Sister Harriet Jane Honse and a younger brother Samuel Louis Honse. John is survived by 3 daughters and 4 sons; Ginger Alice Honse in McAllen, TX, Dianne Honse, Seabrook, TX, Jonnie Lynn Honse, New Orleans, LA, and 4 sons; John Goodwin Honse Jr., Middleburg, FL, Shasa Honse, Bulverde, TX, Michael Shaun Honse, San Antonio, TX, and George Goodwin Honse, Fischer, TX. He is survived as well by 12 grandchildren including 7 granddaughters, Rachel Marie, Sophia, Emily, and Lauren Villagomez all of Seabrook, TX, Collins and Holly Honse of Bulverde, TX as well as Maryn Sutter of New Orleans, LA and the grandsons include 5 boys, Hank Sutter of New Orleans, LA, Elias Timothy Gutche of WI, and Mason Richard, Logan Philip, and Jackson Goodwin Honse all of Middleburg, FL.

• The funeral service will be held for close friends and family on Sunday, October 15th from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Friends and family will be received directly after from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Cremation and military honors will be performed at a later date.
