Jose M. Esquivel, Sr., passed away at the age of 69 on July 10, 2023 surrounded by his family.  Jose was born on October 25, 1953 in New Braunfels, TX, to Simon Esquivel, Sr., and Isabel Rodriguez Esquivel.

Jose’s biggest pride and joy in life was his grandchildren and they all agree that he was the best Grandpa. His kids and grandkids were his world and he enjoyed spending time with his family as often as he could. He was the most reliable person you could ever meet, was selfless when it came to family and friends, and was simply known as “Chema,” to those who knew him. He also had many joys in life including spending time outdoors, tending to his garden, caring for his chickens and roosters, and painting model cars.

Jose is survived by his children, son Jose M. Esquivel, Jr., daughters Monica M. Cantu (Adolfo), Alexandria Esquivel, and his beloved grandchildren Alexis Cantu, Lauren Cantu, Emily Cantu & Gabriel Esquivel, in addition to siblings Veronica Perez, Evangelina Rogers, Adriana Gaytan, Marissa Esquivel, Simon Esquivel, and George Esquivel. Jose was preceded in death by his parents Simon Esquivel, Sr., and Isabel Rodriguez Esquivel and brothers Orlando Esquivel, Javier Esquivel, and Domingo Esquivel.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-8:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Holy Family Church with burial to follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be, Jose M. Esquivel, Jr., Adolfo Cantu, Jr., Domingo Esquivel, David Carranza, Martin Gaytan, and Bo De Leon
