Joseph L. Castiglione, Sr. 94, passed away on August 17, 2026 in San Antonio, TX. He was born to Vito and Josephine Castiglione on January 21, 1932 in San Antonio, TX. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Castiglione, Theresa Castiglione and Mary Lou Garza.He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Irma M. Castiglione, his sons, Joseph L. Castiglione, Jr. and wife Irma, Robert Castiglione and wife Marcie, daughter Marie Harper, and by his grandchildren, Steve Overton, Donny Overton, T.J. Harper, Marissa Harper, Breeann Morgan and Joseph D. Castiglione, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends Jesse and Sylvia Granato. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, then worked as a cartographer for the Defense Mapping Agency in San Antonio, TXfor 37 years. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and going dancing with his wife Irma. Above all, he was a devoted family man who treasured time with his loved ones and friends.His great sense of humor and giving spirit will be missed. He was always ready to help his family and friends. He was the rock of the family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lux Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM where the United States Army will render honors.

  1. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Irma and all of their families. Joe was such a great, compassionate, and loving individual that always had a great passion for life and his family. Joe was always so good to our family and really enjoyed visiting with Dad and Mom. Our prayers go out to all the family as Joe will definitely be missed.
