Juan "Johnny" Castilleja", a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital at the age of 59. Mr. Castilleja was born on March 23, 1952 in New Braunfels to Santos G. Castilleja, Sr. and Dolores Tristan Castilleja. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, cooking and watching movies. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Santos G. Castilleja, Sr. Survivors include his spouse, Helen Castilleja; children, Melissa Castilleja Arciniega and husband, Martin, Peter Castilleja and Paul Castilleja and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Paul Ryan, Joel and Gabriel Castilleja; mother, Dolores T. Castilleja; siblings, Margarita, Santos Jr., David, Florentino, Armando and Sam Castilleja. In addition, Mr. Castilleja is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with visitation starting at the church at 9:00 AM. Please note: There will not be a procession on Thursday morning from Lux Funeral Home to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. We ask those wishing to attend the Funeral Mass meet at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. The committal service will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Hays County. Although Ed saw more of him than I did after leaving the company in 1994, I would get to visit with him when I came to meet Ed for lunch, the Christmas parties, etc. Juan was a Big Hearted man and was always there for anybody that needed help.He was always smiling and he enjoyed being with all of the co-workers and he loved his family dearly.May God Bless ALL of the Family Always. To have & give to family & friends. in a lifetime you really only meet a handfull of special people you know you would give the shirt off your back for..I would do that for Juan. My fondest memories, Juan smiling & eating jalapeno filled with cheese & wrapped in bacon at Landa park with Gabe, Our favorite lunch feasts @ Rudys. “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. I have many fond memories of our times together in Texas (shooting out at Rivenburgh’s ranch, for one) and later in Michigan – where he was instrumental in helping us get TSG up and running in the early days.
