Judith “Judy” Marie Ward Phife
May 19, 1956 – September 27, 2026
Judith “Judy” Marie Ward Phife, 70, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. Judy was born on May 19, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Pauline Elmore Carrol and Jerry Amiah Ward.
Judy was a true free spirit with a deep love for nature and the outdoors. She especially loved horses and riding, and wildflowers held a special place in her heart. Animals were an important part of her life, and she loved her pets. She had an independent, wild spirit and found beauty and joy in the natural world around her.
Judy also deeply loved her church and the church family she found at Peace Lutheran Church in New Braunfels. Her faith and the relationships she formed there were an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Elmore Carrol and Jerry Amiah Ward, and her beloved husband, Richard Glidewell Phife.
Judy is survived by her three children: Daniel Amiah Phife and his wife, Rachel Kramer Phife, and their daughters, Amiah Lynn Phife and Ainsley Marie Phife; Rebecca Lynn Burks and her husband, Steven Edward Burks, and his daughter, Stefanie Lynn Burks; and David Alexander Phife and his wife, Amanda Ru Phife, and their sons, Austin Alexander Phife and Landon Glidewell Phife.
A memorial service celebrating Judy’s life will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1147 S. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Judy’s honor to Peace Lutheran Church.
Judy will be remembered for the fierce love she had for her family and friends, her love of horses and nature, and above all, the wild, free spirit that made her unmistakably Judy.
