Karen Louise Luedecke

Karen Louise Luedecke, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born on August 12, 1942 in Cumberland, Maryland, the daughter of the late Thomas Burwell and Kathryn Brock Korsmo.

Karen married the love of her life, Billy Luedecke, on August 30, 1969 and they were married for over 50 years. Although they didn’t have children of their own, they enjoyed being actively involved in the lives of many of their friends and family’s children.

Karen graduated from high school in Roswell, New Mexico, before continuing on to get her nursing degree at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, followed by a master’s degree in California. Karen’s nursing career extended across multiple states, including Texas, California, Washington, and Oregon. One of their favorite past times while they lived on the west coast was spending time on the water in their boat with many friends over the years.

Billy and Karen became active members of Grace Church after they retired to New Braunfels, Texas, to be near his extended family. Their church family lovingly cared for Karen in many ways in the years after Billy passed, and as her health began to fail. The family wishes to express deep gratitude for the exceptional care provided to Karen by her church family, the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, and Hope Hospice.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; parents Tom and Kay Korsmo; and brothers Tom and Eric. Survivors include her brother, Mark Korsmo and wife, Karen; sister-in-law, Joanne Korsmo; niece Elizabeth Korsmo; nephew, Tige Korsmo and wife, Brooke; niece Jamie Korsmo; nephew Matt Korsmo and wife, Alyssa. She also leaves behind five grand-nieces and nephews, including Grace, Emma, Camden, Jacob, and Cooper.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, at Grace Church in New Braunfels. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her memory to Grace Church.
