Kimberly “Sue” Mitchell
May 6th, 1955 – September 16th, 2020
Sue lived an adventurous life! Born in Xenia, Ohio and raised on a farm, she was hardworking, strong-willed, brave, loyal, and full of life. The family moved to Texas when she was a teenager. She went to Cosmetology School and began working out of her home. She later learned to drive an 18-Wheeler and was a truck driver for many years. She has owned bars and restaurants, worked as a server and a cook, and could make the best Chicken and Noodles from scratch that you have ever tasted! In 1998 she began working as a Contract Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service with her daughter. She loved working outside, being able to drive through the country and on ranches, and to make sure her customers were taken care of. She was eventually hired to work at Fischer Post Office as a relief Postmaster and later to Spring Branch and Kendalia Post Offices. She spoke often of her co-workers and her customers, about how they became like family and it really wasn’t like working-because she truly loved what she was doing.
In 2016 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer, she lost her husband, had a craniotomy, and started chemo all within a course of a few months. She fought hard to get on her feet and back to work. She was fierce and independent but most of all determined to do things on her terms and her way. Sue worked up until the beginning of 2020, when the cancer had begun to spread throughout her body and the Chemo was no longer effective.
Her Pride and Joy was her family, her little dog, and close friends, she loved her Daughter Lesley and husband Carl, her two grandchildren Jacob and Laura. Her two best friends Billy Gierisch and Tina Bouthot. Her Coffee Buddy, Mr. Bob; her work BFF Jesse; her Postmaster Cesar; and all of her Kendalia friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her Husband, Bill Batesole; Father, Arthur Wilson; Mother, Elinor Odell; Brothers, Tim Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Walter Wilson.
She is survived by her Daughter Lesley and Husband Carl Vinka; Grandchildren, Jacob and Laura Vinka; Sister, Shawn (Memo) Trevino; Brother Mike Wilson; Nieces and Nephews, Chelsea Johnson, Alicia Trevino Reyna, Jeremy Trevino, and many others.
