Marie Antonette Garcia Meza, 97, passed away on March 18, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, with her loving family in her sleep at home. Born on June 13, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Isaac C. Garcia, Sr. and Herlinda Castellano Garcia; sister to Isaac Garcia, Jr. and sister in law, Virginia; mother, to Paul I. Meza and grandmother to Baby Paul A. Meza and nephew, David Lundell who all proceeded her in death.

Marie is survived by her beloved daughter, Geraldine (Gerry) Arreaga and her husband, Michael J. Arreaga; daughter-in-law, Patricia (Pat) Meza; grandchildren, Patric T. Meza, Staci C. Meza, Michael A. Arreaga and Ashley I. Berkowitz and husband, Daniel Berkowitz, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Johsua A. Meza, Alexius G. Zuniga and her husband, Zak Zuniga, LT1 US Army Nathaniel P. Meza and his wife, LT1 US Army Cecelyn A. Meza, SGT US Army Samuel D. Meza, Matthew A. Meza, Alyssa M. Meza, Eliana and Isabelle Berkowitz; great-great-grandchildren, Ivy S. Zuniga and Lucas A. Meza; and nephews, Isaac Garcia III and Michael Lundell.

Marie graduated form Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. Attended Incarnate Word College for a year. She later worked at Sears and Roebuck for 36 years maintaining and ordering merchandise for the store. She was an avid reader, gardener, ceramic painter and enjoyed putting puzzles together. She enjoyed volunteering on Fridays to assist St. Pius X kindergarten class doing art with Mrs. Coleman. She also loved to attend as many different sports games and performances that all her children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were in. She made Christmas felt stockings for almost every member of her family as a keepsake with love. Family and her faith were so important to her. She also loved eating good food at home or restaurants and was an admirer of the arts. She enjoyed going to the movies, museums, the theatre, and concerts.

A special thanks goes to all the Aides Nurses and staff from New Life Hospice for all they did for my mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

A Rosary and Memorial Mass will take place beginning at 10:00 AM on April 10, 2026 at St. Pius X in the Family Center, San Antonio, Texas. Burial will be at San Jose Cemetery at 2:00 PM for the family. St. Pius X Catholic Church and Family Center is on the corner of Harry Wurzbach Road and 3303 Urban Crest Drive.
