Marlene Gail Oppy

Marlene Gail (Sleek) Oppy, 86, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Seguin, Texas.

She was born on September 28, 1937, to Homer Roy Sleek and Amy Adella (Ashbrook) Sleek in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Marlene was a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always ready to give anything and everything to those in need, including the family Christmas tree (true story!). She never met a stranger, and always had a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, especially when she was dancing. And boy, did she love to dance!

She is survived by three daughters, Rhonda McDaniel and husband David of Front Royal, Virginia, Amy Oppy and husband Gary York of New Braunfels, Texas, and Karen Monroe and husband Charles Nowlin of Front Royal, Virginia; sister Dorothy Bostic; five grandchildren, Megan Lang and husband Dave, Brittany Smith, Lauren McDaniel, Cameron Fair, and Kendon Fair; and two great-grandchildren, Avelyn Lang and Justice Green.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four of her five siblings, Janet Miller, Clayton “Jim” Sleek, Earl “Buck” Sleek, and Vivian Yost.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
