Mary Elizabeth Hickman

Mary Elizabeth Hickman, age 53, and a resident of New Braunfels, joined her loving Lord on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 from University Hospital in San Antonio. Mary was born on September 23, 1963 at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois to Elmer Joe Hickman and Margaret Jane Watkins Hickman. Mary is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Margaret Hickman; sisters, Joanna Hickman and Jane Henderson; brother, Jim Hickman and wife, Diane; 10 nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews. Mary lived her simple life with grace and great faith because of her life long relationship with Jesus. Presented throughout her life with challenges beyond most people's understanding, Mary consistently and with great devotion loved Jesus and all others. She taught many through her simple yet profound faith that life is lived best if seasoned with grace and mercy. Well done, Mary. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Freedom Fellowship Church in New Braunfels, followed by a meal in the family center. The funeral procession will depart at 1:00 PM promptly from the church for an arrival time of 1:45 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, which is where the graveside service will take place. Memorial gifts may be made to the ARC of New Braunfels, the Friends House or Freedom Fellowship Church. Special thanks to Marjory Patterson who cared for Mary for more than 20 years.
