Mary Jo Fuentez, 86 of San Antonio and former longtime resident of Olton, gained her wings on Friday, July 14, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Christian. A Visitation will be held at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels, Texas.

Mary Jo was born October 14, 1936, in Brackettville, Texas, an only child to Avery Jack Kellogg (Killough) and Camila Flores Talamantez. Jack was stationed at Ft. Clark Army Base in Brackettville 1936-1941. She was raised by her great aunt Mary N. Castro and her stepfather Charles F. McGuire who she fondly referred to as Daddy Mickey. Mary Jo married the love of her life, Patricio Fuentez, Jr in 1955 and they made Olton, Texas their home while raising their six children.

Mary Jo was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church and community.   She also loved cats, dancing, tending to her plants, playing bingo and dominos and visiting with her family and friends.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, and her ex-husband Pat. She is survived by her children Kay Martinez of San Antonio, Alfred Fuentez and wife Carla of Van Alstyne, Tammi Fuentez of Austin, Brenda Fuentez, Every “Jacky” Fuentez and Sarah Lee Fuentez-Ashley and husband Michael of New Braunfels. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
